12 January 2017

Dear Parents,

The first term of 2017 has kicked off with much excitement! It is such a joy to welcome so many faces to our school for the start of 2017, both old and new! A special welcome to all our new families! I really hope that your time as part of the Clarendon family will be blessed.

I would also like to welcome our new members of Staff –  Miss Nicholette Spence, Mrs Nikki Timmerman, Miss Sam Wolstenholme and Mrs Tammy Tait.

We also have Miss Dominque Korb, Miss Kelly Shaw and Mr Kevin Schmidt joining us as Interns.

Parents Information Evening

We shall be having our first Parents Information Evening on Wednesday 18th January. We encourage you to attend as it gives you an opportunity to meet your child’s Class Teacher. You will be advised of the expectations from the children, the various activities on offer and other general information. There has also been time allocated for you to be addressed by our Sport’s Department and myself.

The times for this evening are as follows:

JP Parents – 5:30pm meeting in the School Hall; 6:00pm in your Childs Classroom.

SP Parents – 5:30pm in your Childs Classroom; 6:00pm meeting in the School Hall.

Valentines Bash 2016

Don’t forget to diarise our annual Valentines Bash on Friday 10th February! It is promising to be another fun-filled family event for our current Clarendon families!

D6 School Communicator

Clarendon strives to be as eco-friendly as possible. As such we make use of the D6 School Communicator. I encourage you to download the Communicator to your smartphone, laptop or PC. The download link is: http://www.school-communicator.com/download.php

Sports fixtures & results, school events, photo’s and more are available on the Communicator and allows us to keep you updated!

Drop off and Pick up

We understand that the traffic situation in the mornings and afternoons is exceptionally frustrating. We ask for your continued patience in this regard as we try and find a solution to the problem. Please ensure that you obey all traffic rules. We request that you do not hinder the flow of traffic in Roberts Road and in Villiers Drive. We would like to suggest that if you enter Villiers Drive from Roberts Road that, once you have dropped off or collected your child, you continue up and around Villiers Drive, exiting at the top of Roberts Road. This should allow traffic to flow more freely. Please bear with us as we try and get this “chaos” sorted out.

There is so much more happening this term and I urge you to keep your term calendar on the fridge so you are aware of all that is going on! If you have any queries or concerns, please know that I am available to meet with you. Please contact the school office to book an appointment with me or with a member of the school management team.

In my address at the end of last year, I encouraged you, as parents, to really spend time getting to know your children. JB Priestley once said “Like its politicians and its wars, society has the teenagers it deserves.” It is my hope, for 2017, that you would endeavour to set aside some time each and every day for your children, engaging in conversation and really getting to know them.

May you have a happy and blessed first Term!

Mr M Summers

Acting Principal
